Season 01 Reloaded adds a raid and… football?

If you like PvE and soccer shooter experiences, the latest call of Duty Season 01 Reloaded has a double whammy for you. Modern warfare II gets the first ever Cod raid, while War zone has a limited time event for all you foosball fans out there. My personal favorite mode, ZDCI also have some love!

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and its free battle royale mode Warzone 2.0 just received a substantial content update. Serving traditional team-based multiplayer game types, battle royale, and PvE modes like DMZ, Cod it has a lot of different modes these days. Therefore, updates like today’s Season 01 Reloaded are jam-packed with loads of new features for the game’s many modes. The usual changes, both subtle and obvious (shotgun damage seems weaker) are here too. Let’s get into it.

of Call of Duty First raid

Yes today Cod got his first raid. Cod and noDestiny or World of Warcraftso it’s easy to imagine dozens of jokers running around in LoL skins hopping around corners. But fear not: The all new Raid Mode is a three person mission (no matchmaking) available within Modern warfare II.

This means that you will need to purchase the $70 full version of the game to play it. But that is not all. Cod it also requires you to do one of the following to unlock the raid:

  • Complete a specific Daily Challenge in Multiplayer or Special Ops mode
  • Place in the top 20 in any War zone Playlists Battle Royale 2.0
  • Exfiltrate DMZ with $30,000 in cash

Doing any of these will give you a Raid Assignment, which lasts for a week. You need a Raid Assignment to play the raid.

These tasks aren’t too onerous, so most people should be able to get into the raid quickly. But what do you do then? Well, the Season 01 Reloaded update describes the raid as an “exciting mix of combat and puzzles for teams of three to explore.” But it’s also related mwiiThe story of the campaign of . Since this is the first raid, announced as “Episode 1”, we probably have more to look forward to.

The story picks up from the end of Modern warfare IIthe campaign of. And if you ask me, that’s not a bad thing. The first half of Modern warfare II it had so bored me I wanted to play Mist as a palate cleanser, but honestly, the second half was really fun. Maybe we will even be treated sexiest whispers from our boy Ghost.

While the raid tasks and matchmaking requirements are a pain, I think the overall concept of the raid concept has potential, and it’s certainly fun in games like Destiny. Cod it sure as hell has the crunchy mechanics to make it satisfying, so let’s see how it goes.

Warzone 2.0 world Cup

While I certainly never thought, “I wish there were more sports in my video games,” I know some people are interested in that big soccer thing that’s happening right now. Cod is here to satisfy your love of sports with a limited-time mode that features an oversized soccer ball, a full-sized field, ATVs, and shock sticks. The first team to five goals wins.

If I’m being honest, maybe you’d better spend your time with Rocket league or something like that strange halo custom game. The sentiment is appreciated, but this mode feels a little too wonky in my initial playtest.

The War zone The World Cup runs from 14 to 23 December.

DMZ changes and updates

If you’re in the DMZ, Santa has arrived early. There is a new area, “Building 21” and brand new keys scattered all over Al Mazrah. They grant access to a mysterious new location “outside Al Mazrah and in a new hyper-dangerous area of the DMZ”. While I’m more than used to it Hyper-dangerous BS in DMZhopefully other additions help make the game’s fanciest mode a little more survivable.

While there’s no talk of fixing the telepathic AI’s ability to shoot you through fucking walls, the DMZ will now see increased self-revive, gas masks, field upgrades, platform carriers, backpacks, and a lot less of the stuff you don’t need , namely electronics components and toothpaste. RIP your dental hygiene.

A new option allows eliminated players to join an enemy team by asking for help. I haven’t tried it yet, but it looks more like it to me offer to help. Regardless, it’s really frustrating sometimes when another team of operators takes you out when you weren’t even interested in screwing them up. Now at least you’ll have a chance to get back in faster.

Successful exfil will now also reward with a random perk; perks like Scavenger, for example. You’ll get more for each successive successful kick, making a successful kick even more valuable.

Kotaku reached out to Activision to ask about the backpack changes, which apparently grant a third weapon slot if you have a medium or large backpack equipped. This seems to be the way backpacks already worked, but maybe there’s a little detail I’m missing.

Season 01 New map and weapon balance changes

Sit back, because you’re about to feel really happy or really angry: rifles no longer hit a fully armored opponent. That means ludicrous ones like me running around with silenced rifles to deliver silent one-shot shots like we’re Anton Chigurh or something we’re out of luck. But that’s okay, because fools who strap a riot shield on their back will now take reduced movement speed and melee damage. It serves him right.

You will check the patch notes for details if you use MX9, M13B, Kastov-74u, VEL 47, Basilisk, .50 GS, Expedite 12 or JOKR.

Modern warfare IIThe main multiplayer modes of are also becoming familiar. Shipping, a classic Cod map, it will include some changes as per a tweet from the official Cod account a few days ago:

And while I’m sure many might have fond memories of Expedition, I’m here to warn you about that. Folks, I’ve played two rounds on this map and it’s been my most absurd and frustrating shooter experience in recent memory. mwii already has a fast-as-hell TTK, so a map of narrow corridors set at night, fogged with tons of smoke from explosions and smoke grenades, means this is nothing more than a literally three-second pre-fire party-until- dead bullshit. But your mileage may vary.

Season 01 Reloaded The quality of life changes

Don’t you hate it when you activate a bonus XP token and have no way of seeing how much time is left? That changes today. The time left on a bonus token will now be shown in the lobby, and you can even activate it mid-game in the pause menu. I know I forget to turn them on all the time, so that’s a huge plus.

But perhaps one of my favorite changes here is that joining a game that is already in progress does not count as a loss if you lose. I join mid game. You have to keep the servers running I suppose. But there’s nothing worse than entering a game that is clearly doomed to failure and is too advanced to save. If win/loss stats are important to you, worry no more.

A number of other minor changes include UI tweaks, the addition of a toggle option for the ping wheel, and UI elements that clarify weapon tuning capabilities and stat indicators. call of Duty‘S the weapon loading and upgrade system can be a bit confusingso it’s nice to see some attention there.

All in all, there’s a lot of interesting stuff to check out. The DMZ features are by far the most appealing to me, but I’d be lying if I said the raid wasn’t a tantalizing siren chant, especially if there’s more to come. Once I get two more players together, I’ll be sure to report back on how this strange new addition is shaping up.
